We ask for two documents: the script and a 1-pager. The script should be between 5 and 15 pages and follow standard industry layout. The 1-pager, which is used to select the semi-finalists, is explained below. For more on the judging process, please read this.
The title.
The genre.
A logline of less than 30 words.
A 50-100 word overview (not a synopsis) highlighting the inspiration behind the script (why you are a making it/what you want the audience to take away from it) and any films of a similar tone.
A 200-350 word synopsis which sets out the story and character beats (and includes the ending).
Any information you may want to give regarding crew, cast, locations or equipment you have lined up.
Otherwise, we want to know your role and whether you or someone else is attached to direct or produce the film (we can help attach above-the-line crew). If you or another director is attached, we ask for a link to previous work. Of course, first-time filmmakers have won plenty of awards but they tend to be the exception rather than the rule. The reality is that your first film as director is unlikely to be your best work.
